Eiger Glacier – Eigergletscher is a glacier, an area, and a railway station on the Jungfrau Line. Travelling by Jungfrau Cogwheel Railway to the ‘Top of Europe’, the first stop is Eiger Glacier – Eigergletscher. On leaving Kleine Scheidegg super-scenic views of the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, Schilthorn and Trümmelbach unfold. After Eiger Glacier – Eigergletscher station the train begins its exciting, upward tunnelling though the famous Eiger Mountain. Mountain resort Alpine Wengen is an ideal place to stay and explore this unique area and many others in the Jungfrau Region.
Winter Sports under the Eiger
This area is fed by two multi-person chairlifts in the ski season, ‘Eigernordwand’ and ‘Fallboden’. Furthermore the train brings skiers and sightseers. Challenging ski pistes originate here – three black and one red. Plenty of exhilarating skiing and snow boarding fun throughout the season and a world famous Alpine backdrop to boot!
Eiger Glacier – Mountain Restaurants
Enjoy Eigergletscher Restaurant at 2322m, up close to the towering Mönch and Jungfrau Mountains. Its panoramic terrace offers superb views of the Eiger Glacier – Eigergletscher and its moraine. Open in summer and winter. Folklore evenings with sumptuous dinner are a feature here in summer. In addition, the Schreinerei Ski Bar is a great place to take a break in the winter season.
Eigergletscher – Summer Hiking
A short walk down from the Eiger Glacier – Eigergletscher station, an alien, high mountain scape opens up. Myriads of small grey rocks are heaped to form the line of the glacial moraine. Stretching upwards to the Eiger face and downwards towards the Trümmelbach, the moraine forms an elevated hiking path. Furthermore the views of this dramatic landscape are the lure for longer hikes to Fallboden, Kleine Scheidegg, Biglenalp and Wengernalp. Thoroughly recommended!
