Let Alpine Holiday Services choreograph your summer holiday in Wengen. To begin it’s the accommodation, then ‘what to do?’ and the final scene

What to see?

Choose your style, and location from our quality range.  Looking for a spacious, central family summer holiday apartment? Or maybe a mountain retreat just for two? We offer a unique experience in Chalet Schlössli, built in 1905 and stylishly renovated. Or dating from the same year, the Belle Époque Chalet apartment Hunnenfluh offers a retreat with views and a touch of Wengen heritage.

Chalet apartment Iris

Share, with owners Denis and Susan, the success story of this chalet apartment renovation. The spacious family apartment sleeps six people and is situated in a quiet corner of Wengen a little way below the train station. Contemporary bathrooms and WC are luxurious. Light, blocky wood gives this apartment a scandinavian feel. Immaculately renovated with tasteful furnishings,  it is a popular summer holiday choice with our guests. The reality is even better than the photos. Browse our gallery at alpineholidayservices.ch and book online today.

It’s simply one of the best views in Wengen. The spectacular, glaciated, mountain wall of the Bernese Alps- the Jungfrau, Silberhorn and Breithorn, falls away into the cliff walled, U-shaped, Lauterbrunnen valley, teeming with waterfalls. Experience the shifting time as the sun sweeps across the sky, a subtlety of light, shade and colour.

Alpine interiors, From Penthouse Margaux to Racers Retreat

Penthouse Margaux is a Hi-Tech, superbly renovated, summer holiday let. Chalet Rose Penthouse boasts Alpine chic style and one of the best views in Wengen. Racers Retreat is a chalet complex in pastoral Innerwengen in which we have three, spacious Duplex apartments. Panoramapark Soleil is a second, clean-cut, contemporary complex in traditional garb and nestling just below the bustle of Wengen resort. Choose from two penthouses, and ten further apartments including two with a garden aspect. Chalet Stella and Luna Penthouses are above central Wengen and offer ensuite bathing facilities for all guests.

Chalet Schlössli offers a beautiful experience on a summer holiday
We had such a wonderful day photographing this 1905, traditional chalet in June. From a morning on the terrace, drenched in sunshine, to an evening by the fire pit watching the last rays of sun disappear and be replaced by the silvery mountains in the moonlight and a sense of thrill.

Explore this unique, mountainscape on foot.

Whether you are a ‘downhill only’ walker or a ‘pushing-the-boundaries speed hiker’, there is something here for all. Perhaps walk around Wengen, visit the Leiterhorn, or take a trail from Männlichen. Or make a summer holiday in Wengen complete and go on one of the stunning, life-affirming hikes in the region – Oberhornsee, Schynige Platte to First or Stalden, Biglenalp and Eigergletscher.

Excursions to make from Jungfraujoch to Schilthorn. A cogwheel journey to the highest station in Europe is really up there! No summer holiday in Wengen would be anything to write home about without crunching snow under foot and slithering along the ice of the palace.

Summer Holiday: Thun Cruises

There are several cruises in the summer holiday season including the sunset cruise and paddle steamboat cruises. Visit Thun and Spiez Castles, Oberhofen and Hünegg Castle at Hilterfingen. Or alight at Beatenbucht for the cableway to Niederhorn.

UNESCO’s Bern

It’s certainly worth a trip to this medieval cityscape that is the capital of Switzerland. Situated in a bend of the Aare River, the Old Town is a delight of painted water fountains, covered ways and towers including the Zytglogge pictured above. Although a year round attraction, a summer holiday feeling is good.

Männlichen BBQs

Witness the sun setting from the Männlichen Crown. Book a cableway and BBQ evening in high summer or make your own careful way down in the dusk. Golden hues over Lake Thun and a rose coloured Jungfrau Massif may be a feature of your summer holiday in Wengen.

Paddle Steamer Cruises on Lake Brienz

Make the round lake holiday tour or jump on and off to visit Giessbach Falls in summer with its heritage hotel and funicular, Iseltwald, and Brienz. In Brienz see skilled wood carving or take a short bus ride to the Ballenberg Swiss Open Air Museum.

Schynige Platte
Harder Kulm
Giessbach Falls
Glacier Canyon
Trümmelbach Falls

Piz Gloria, Schilthorn

It is as much a journey as a destination. Four cableways (or three plus a scenic train) from the valley floor, the Schilthorn features a Thrill Walk at Birg, a high altitude walk at the summit, a revolving restaurant, helipad, Bondworld and cinema. An attraction to make any summer holiday memorable.

Bachalpsee, First

On holiday, see this gem of a lake in summer after around an hour’s walk from First mountain cableway station. To realise the view here, proceed ever upwards towards the Berg Restaurant on Faulhorn. Descend via Bussalp or hike on to Schynige Platte.

Wengen Resort, home of the Jungfrau.

Alpine Wengen, a resort to which sightseers and sport fans alike flock in numbers for their summer holiday, is worth the journey. Cool in summer and sunny in winter, Wengen lies at 1274m  on a plateau facing south.  Plus points include:
– At the heart of the idyllic Jungfrau region
– Car – limited resort
– Contemporary tradition
– Activities’ paradise

Alpine Wengen is a destination in itself featuring breathtaking scenery, Swiss chalets, sports facilities and wellness centres; all in a Belle Époque setting. Explore the surroundings on foot, take the Wengernalp Railway or the cableway to Männlichen.

The Männlichen is only around a 5-minute journey time away from the heart of Wengen and yet you step out into a different world, sometimes above the clouds! By a short walk uphill to the crown, this ridge of a mountain leads to the summit with an undreamed of panorama. Or walk a few metres to the children’s playground and Berg Restaurant and enjoy the world famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau trio of mountains.

Equally, Männlichen can be the start point for trekking. The Panorama Trail heads over to the Scheidegg in summer. The Romantic trail winds down to Alpiglen and the Lieselotte Trail with kid’s features tracks to Holenstein. Holiday the Alps in 2023.
