Where is Wengernalp?

Wengernalp is a beautiful location in the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland in the Canton of Bern. It lies opposite the world famous Jungfrau massif with the deep gulley of the Trümmelbach lying between.

How to get there?

Board the Wengernalp Railway train at the summer and winter, sought-after resort of Alpine Wengen in the Jungfrau Region, Switzerland. The fifteen minute journey to Wengernalp is a delightful one. Passing through the request stop station of Allmend, the cogwheel railway continues its climb to Wengernalp.

What to do there?

A traditional welcome awaits you at the Hotel Jungfrau Wengernalp mountain restaurant. Dine amidst superb mountain views, across to the Mönch and Jungfrau, the west face of the Eiger, and Mürren and the Schilthorn. (seasonal, check opening times) Furthermore small avalanches often dot the steep mountain faces opposite.In winter Wengernalp is a starting point for the ‘Fox Run’. Sledge down into Wengen through alp and forest. It’s a great stopping off point too for skiers and winter walkers making their way down from Kleine Scheidegg. Or board the train here to descend the easy way.

In summer the Wengernalp is another world of flowers, meadow, grazing cows and gorgeous hiking trails. Alight at Wengernalp for a shortened hike over the Eiger Glacier moraine to Eigergletscher Station or descend into Biglenalp. Spring flowers abound at Biglenalp, furthermore the atmosphere is truly enchanting. Another hike takes you through Stalden alp and the wooded tops on the cliff edge, high above Lauterbrunnen Valley. During the steady descent there are several seated areas for magnificent views of the Breithorn peak and valley floor.
