Harder-Kulm-Wengen

Harder Kulm, a short walk and 10 minute funicular ride above Interlaken, offers views over Lakes Thun and Brienz and the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau Mountains. The funicular operates until 28. November 2021.

A Skyline Walk over the cliff’s edge at Birg. The contours of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau are enhanced under the rays of the setting sun and the moon is rising over the Eiger on an autumn break. Schilthorn cableways close from 25.10. – 19.11. 2021

5. Travel a cute cableway to a Jungfrau view

Sulwald-Wengen

Sulwald is the destination of the small, almost nostalgic cableway that has existed from 1975. Travel to Isenfluh by mountain bus and embark for a short ride and mountain trails. The cableway operates all year round, every day.

6. Feel nostalgia for a bucolic way of life

Gimmelwald-Wengen

Gimmelwald is a small, undeveloped, farming hamlet between Stechelberg and Mürren. Views of the snowy Gspaltenhorn peak are unique. Access via cableway from Stechelberg (closed 25.10. – 19.11. 2021), or walk from Mürren in the autumn holidays.

7. Breathe in the rarefied air of a mountaineer

The breathtaking Aletsch Glacier viewed from the Sphinx Observation Deck on the Jungfraujoch, ’Top of Europe’. Visit this glaciated world at 3463m on any day of the year. Imagine the Ice Ages and visit the Ice Palace with carved sculptures.

9. Be an early bird at Bachalpsee and catch the reflection

Likely to see some snow on the hour long walk to Bachalpsee during an autumn break on First Mountain. Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn and Finsteraarhorn are prominent peaks. Faulhorn trail sometimes open. First cableway operates until 24.10.2021

A walk among the vineyards in autumn at Spiez as the grapes are harvested and the vine leaves golden, is special, with lake and mountain views. Spiez castle is open until 31.10. 2021. Wine tasting possible by arrangement.

11. Embark on a relaxing cruise among fairytale castles

Lakes-Thun-Brienz

12. Make a Rendezvous with light

Rendez-vous Bundesplatz is a light show on the facade of the parliament building in the Swiss capital, Bern. A day trip from Wengen. This year the autumn break show is entitled ‘Planet Hope’ and is scheduled for 16.10. – 20.11.2021.

The entire Old City of Bern is a unique UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Zytglogge and fountains crowned with Renaissance allegorical statues are special features. Visit the Historical Museum, bears, bridges, and Parliament.

The Schynige Platte Railway dates from the 19th century. From 1914 electric locomotives were deployed, the same trains are still in operation today! Worth the ride all the way to the Schynige Platte view and trail point. Operates this autumn until 24.10.2021.
